U.S.-Indonesian Agriculture partnership grows

Former director of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) and President Emeritus of the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, Dr. Rodger N. Beachy visited Indonesia to develop agriculture technology sharing between the U.S. and Indonesia. In East Java he visited Surabaya and Malang where he met with academics, NGO leaders, and East Java government officials. His visit serves to strengthen agricultural technology and biotechnology development in Indonesia to improve efficiency and sustainability of crop production.  In a dinner with agriculture representatives in East Java he highlighted the importance of cooperation between the scientists and the policy makers on issues of agriculture development to be sure the best policies are put forward to keep up with and implement technological developments for the public good.
