Consul General, Joaquin Monserrate, and Hakim Jayli, a member of the Gus Durian Society, cut the ribbon to officially open the MLK-Gus Dur photo exhibit.  The Gus Durian Society was formed in memory of former Indonesian president, Abdurrahman Wahid, aka Gus Dur, to promote the values he espoused during his life.  Those values include a pluralist democracy, tolerance and the celebration of diversity.  Those same values were supported and championed by MLK and this photo exhibit celebrates both leaders’ legacies.
