Pol/Econ Officer Jeffrey M. Loree visited the Islamic boarding school Darul Roja at Selokacang Srengat Village near Blitar on March 16, 2009. Established in 1985 the school has 466 students including 50 orphans.

Kiai Nur Hidayatullah Dawami – the head of the school is also chair of the Blitar Inter-Faith Organization and the local branch of Nadlatul Ulama, the world's largest Muslim organization. Students and faculty discussed their perceptions of the U.S and asked about Muslim communities in U.S.
