    Ambassador Robert O. Blake, Jr. praised the wildlife rehabilitation and conservation efforts of the Masarang Foundation and the Tasikoki Wildlife Rescue Center, during a visit to North Sulawesi province on January 8-9, 2015. Accompanied by Consul General in Surabaya, Joaquin F. Monserrate, Ambassador Blake saw firsthand the many Indonesian species that have been saved from wildlife trafficking by Indonesian authorities and turned over to Tasikoki for rehabilitation.

    U.S. Consulate General in Surabaya Presents 'The Consulate in Sketches' Art Exhibit

    The U.S. Consulate Surabaya held an opening of an arts exhibit “The Consulate in Sketches” on Thursday, December 18, 2014, to showcase the artwork of the U.S. Consulate by two Indonesian sketchers, Sudarman Angir and L.K. Bing.The U.S. Consulate General building in Surabaya opened in May 2012. Occupying a six-acre site in the Citra Raya development, the facility services as an important platform for U.S. diplomacy in Indonesia and throughout the region and creates a secure, state-of-the-art, environmentally-sustainable workplace for approximately 200 American and Indonesian employees. The permanent art collection in the Consulate is a mixture of Indonesian and American artists. The Consulate will feature the sketchers work during the beginning of 2015.

    US Ambassador to Indonesia, Robert O. Blake, Jr., celebrated the legacy of the 4th President of Indonesia, Abdurrahman Wahid or Gus Dur, during a visit to Jombang, E. Java on Thursday, December 11, 2014. Accompanied by the US Consul General in Surabaya, Joaquin F. Monserrate, Ambassador Blake visited Nahdlatul Ulama Junior High School in Mojoagung, that adopted the ‘Teachings of Gus Dur’ in its curriculum, and met with Gus Dur’s brother, Salahuddin Wahid, or Gus Sholah, the leader of the famous Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School in Jombang. Ambassador Blake also paid respect to Gus Dur’s grave in Tebuireng, to commemorate the 5th Anniversary of Gus Dur’s passing which falls on Dec. 30.

    Ambassador Robert O. Blake joined the US Consulate Thanksgiving celebration in Banyuwangi, E. Java from Nov 19-22, 2014. The 4-day celebration was hosted with the support of the Banyuwangi Administration and the organization Rajawali Foundation Transformasi Institute.Ambassador Blake noted that the Thanksgiving celebration in Banyuwangi promoted compassion and tolerance, two values shared by US and Indonesia. He noted that ”The United States and Indonesia enjoy excellent relations, built on shared values and common interests. We hope that by having Thanksgiving here, we can share in these values and express gratitude for a more strengthened partnership ahead.”   Photo Gallery »
